Elizabeth (“Beth”) J. Maykut is a Florida Bar Board Certified Elder Law Attorney who is a Partner in the firm. Her practice focuses on estate planning, long term care planning, Medicaid planning, guardianship and other elder law issues. Soon, she will also offer “Elder Care Navigation” for seniors with a life-limiting illness who need care coordination services along with legal assistance and advice.

Ms. Maykut, who has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1994, began practicing Elder Law as Of Counsel to King & Wood, P.A. in 2010. In 2016, she became Board Certified in Elder Law. Ms. Maykut currently practices in the following areas:

Ms. Maykut’s prior legal experience includes several years practicing Florida Administrative Law at various firms, including Steel Hector & Davis LLP, where she participated in representing the Florida Secretary of State in the 2000 Florida presidential election litigation. She has also practiced appellate law, served as a law clerk to the senior judges on the Florida First District Court of Appeal and as an extern to then-Chief Justice Rosemary Barkett on the Florida Supreme Court.

Presentations:

Ms. Maykut is a frequent speaker regarding topics affecting the elderly at various Tallahassee events. She has presented the presentation, “Protecting Yourself as you Age: Three Questions Every Senior Should Ask,” for a variety of audiences from February 2012 to present, including the following: Tallahassee Memorial Hospital (February 2012); Big Bend Hospice (February 2012); Allegro Assisted Living Facility (August 2012); Capital Coalition on Aging (September 2013): Woodmont Assisted Living Facility (September 2013); Capital Health Plan (May 2016); and Sunrise Rotary (May 2016). She has also presented on “What Elder Law Attorneys Wish Estate Planners Knew” at Tallahassee Regional Estate Planning Council (February 2026). She has also appeared on television on the show “Law Talk” (“Grandpa & the Law” Segment), WCTV (June 2014). In addition, she has participated in numerous presentations as part of a panel discussion entitled, “Navigating the Needs of Seniors: What Baby Boomers Wants to Know, but are Afraid to Ask.”

Ms. Maykut also presented on “Transferring a Florida Homestead into a Revocable Living Trust” at the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys’ UnProgram on December 7, 2013.
